Today I spent the day volunteering with Many Tears in Llanelli.
It was a really eye opening experience as to how much work and effort is put in by the staff to ensure that every dog is clean, well socialised and cared for once they arrive on the property. I also found that there were far more volunteers from the community than I'd ever imagined!
I spent the first half of the day cleaning pens, fluffing up blankets and socialising the dogs.
Particularly as these had come from Romania. I was surprised to see that despite their travels and previous unfortunate circumstances that actually the puppies were very sweet!
After that we had the job of putting each pen out for exercise this we did on rotation so that the pups didn't mix with each other as they were only recently rescued it was still unsure if they had any hidden issues. In doing so we found that one set had come down with kennel cough so we sanitised ourselves, the area and then quarantined the effected pen. The final job was to ensure that they all had their own fair share of food. All in all I had a fantastic day at Many Tears and I would urge those who haven't popped down to give it a go! It's very fulfilling and there's nothing better than ensuring that pups in need get the care they require.
